Cable cars, mountain railways & chair lifts

The cable cars in Scena/Schenna, Hirzer, Taser and Verdins-Tall and the Oberkirn-Grube chair lift are operating from about end of March until beginning of November and add another dimension to your hikes in Scena/Schenna. At the end of April also the other cable cars and chair lifts in the surroundings start working, such as the Merano 2000 and the Falzeben gondola cars

Maia/Mais trail walk

This hike of 1.5 hours to Saltaus starts in the centre of Scena/Schenna and leads over the Rothaler trail no. 10B to the Maia/Mais trail. Here, turn right and hike to the Waalerhouse. The mostly flat and partly shady trail leads to the Hirzer cable car near Saltaus. For the way back we recommend you to take the bus or, alternatively, walk back on the Riffiano/Riffian trail. 

From Scena/Schenna to Tirolo/Dorf Tirol

This easy hike of 1.5 hours takes you from Scena/Schenna to Tirolo/Dorf Tirol. Follow the Riffiano/Riffian trail no. 1 into the valley until you reach the Maia/Mais trail along the ancient water channel. Take the Passiria/Passer trail to the other side of the valley. Here turn left and shortly follow the Bacher river on trail no. 30. Then turn right and follow trail no 5A until you reach Tirolo/Dorf Tirol. Take the bus back to your starting point in Scena/Schenna. 

From Klammeben to Gompm Am in the Hirzer region

This hike takes you right into the heart of the idyllic Hirzer region. Drive from Scena/Schenna to Val Passiria/Passeiertal until you reach Saltaus and the valley station. Take the cable car up to Klammeben at 1,985 metres. Here follow the trail no. 40 to the Hirzer hut and trail no. 5B to the Gompm Alm

To the summit of Mt. Ivigna/Ifinger

It takes about 4 hours if you wish to climb Mt. Ivigna/Ifinger. The starting point of the tour is in Falzeben in Avelengo/Hafling. Take the cable car up to Piffinger Köpfl restaurant at 1,900 metres of altitude. Follow hiking trail no. 3 slightly uphill towards Missensteinjoch. Above Weidmannalm the trail splits; follow the broad path no. 19A towards Oswaldscharte and from there continue to the Kuhleitn restaurant. Now continue towards Mt. Piccolo Ivigna/Kleiner Ifinger on trail no. 19. The via ferrata starts approx. 50 m below the summit. If you wish and are fit enough, you can continue from here to the summit of Mt. Piccco Ivigna/Großer Ifinger
