MeranCard – Your bonus card in Merano and environs

There is a lot to discover during a hiking holiday in Scena/Schenna; the various cable cars and lifts make it ever so convenient. The MeranCard is free for our guests and available at our hotel from 06.04. till 30.06. The card guarantees the free use of all public transport and cable cars in South Tyrol, the free entry to about 80 museums and interesting discounts at partnering organisations. 

Hiking in Scena/Schenna and environs

The sunny village Scena/Schenna offers a great many idyllic hiking trails. Follow the hiking trail along the ancient water channels in Maia/Mais, walk to Tirolo/Dorf Tirol, take an excursion to the magical gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle or visit the Hirzer region and climb Mt. Picco Ivigna/Großer Ifinger. 

Biking and climbing

Not far from our Hotel Eschenlohe you find a great number of exciting bike and MTB trails and the Heini Holzer via ferrata above Scena/Schenna and the Taseralm high rope course at Mt. Montescena/Scennaberg – guaranteeing fun on and off the ropes for the entire family.

Horse riding in Scena/Schenna

For horse fans trail riding offers by far the most beautiful way to explore the great outdoors. In the saddle of your horse in step, trot or gallop across green (or snowy) meadows and fields, forests and valleys. A great entertainment for the whole family. Lakes and more

If you are longing to take a refreshing plunge into a lake, we recommend you a visit to the picturesque lakes of Monticolo/Montiggl of approx. 17.8 ha, surrounded by idyllic woods. The two lakes, the large and little Monticolo/Montiggl lake, are located in Appiano/Eppan at about 35 km from Scena/Schenna. The lakes and the forest are a biotope and a popular destination, particularly in summer. On the west shore of the lake you find a pool with children’s basin, water slide and a large sun-bathing lawn, a shipping pier and a little restaurant. Tip: take a walk across the Spring Valley, from Monticolo/Montiggl to Caldaro/Kaltern lake. Caldaro/Kaltern lake is also well worth a visit; with its approx. 155 ha the lake is the warmest in the Alps and ideal for swimming, fishing, rowing or wind surfing. Other destinations for water fans are the green lake in Val di Non/Deutschnonsberg, Lago di Tret/Felixer Weiher or the three out of six barrier lakes in Val d’Ultimo/Ultental: Lago di Zoccolo/Zoggler Stausee, ago di Alborelo/Pankrazer See and Lago di Fontana Bianca/Weißbrunn.
