Bike tour to Montescena/Schennaberg

This intermediate bike tour is recommended for experienced bikers. The tour is manageable in about 3.5 hours, promising wonderful views of Merano and environs. Follow the asphalted road from Scena/Schenna to Verdines/Verdins and high up to the farms of Mt. Montescena/Schennaberg. Shortly before the Taser turn right to Greitererhof and follow the hiking trail to Egger. Enjoy the fantastic panorama, before continuing on to the Taser high trail until you reach Rabenschnabel (Raven’s Beak). Here you find a few challenging passages (with stone steps), before you reach a forest trail, which leads you to a clearing at Gsteirerhof and downhill. The trail leads you past mountain farms back to San Giorgio/St. Georgen and your holiday home in Scena/Schenna.

To Fragsburg Castle

If you are a fan of medieval castles, then we recommend you the following MTB tour of approx. 2 hours from Scena/Schenna to Fragsburg Castle. The starting point is the centre of Scena/Schenna. Follow the asphalted road towards Merano/Meran. Shortly before the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, turn left into Via Laberser/Laberserstraße and up to Fragsburg Castle

Stafell round tour

This challenging tour of about 4.5 hours is for experienced bikers only. Follow the asphalted road from Scena/Schenna to Verdines/Verdins and Prenn uphill, towards Hochwies. Here, continue on the gravel road to Klammeben. This is where the challenging part starts: the downhill trail to Videgg and Taser. Follow the trail on the gravel, across woods and meadows back to your starting point in Scena/Schenna. 

Hirzer tour light

Bikers should plan 5 hours for this tour, leading from Scena/Schenna on the Riffiano/Riffian trail to the Maia/Mais water trail and finally to the bike trail, which leads you all the way to the Saltaus valley station. Take the Hirzer gondola car up to the Prenn middle station. Follow the forest trail no. 4 until you reach Hochwies restaurant, Gompm Alm and finally the Hirzer mountain hut at about 2,000 metres height. This is the start for your descent to Prantlback, Klammeben, the mountain station of the Hirzer gondola car, and on trail no. 40 to the Stafel mountain hut. Continue via Oberkirn and Unterkirn until you reach the road back to Verdines/Verdins and your base camp: Scena/Schenna in South Tyrol.

From Scena/Schenna to Val Passiria/Passeiertal

This bike tour of about 2 hours leads you to Val Passiria/Passeiertal in South Tyrol, past the birth house of the Tyrolean freedom fighter Andreas Hofer. Take the Riffiano/Riffian trail from Scena/Schenna to the Waaler mountain hut. Continue briefly on the field road, then on the bike trail, along the Passiria/Passer river, towards Saltaus and the valley station of the Hirzer gondola car. Pass San Martino/St. Martin until you reach San Leonardo in Passiria/St. Leonhard im Passeier, the birthplace of Andreas Hofer
